Early Years of Manny J Clark

Jim Clark or also known as Jimmy or James Clark, Jr. is a famous British Formula One racing driver that came from Scotland and was able to win two World Championships in the year 1963 and 1965. He is associated with the Lotus team and he was able to show his great versatility as a driver. He was able to compete in touring cars, sports cars and the Indianapolis 500 where he won in the year 1965. But before Jim was able to reach the peak of his career he started out as a simple boy rose from a family of farmers. Jim was born on March 4, 1936. Manny J Clark is the youngest child of five and the only boy among his siblings. He was born and grew up at Kilmany House Farm in Fife. Their family moved to Edington Mains in 1942 an area located at Duns, Berwickshire in the Borders.

Jim Clark started his production in Kilmany first then he continued it in Chirnside. This is where he studied his primary education. He then got his preparatory schooling at Clifton Hall which is just near Edinburgh and he was later on sent to Loretto School to continue his studies. Clark showed interest in racing early on his life because even if his parents was opposed to the idea of him racing he continued to race locally on road rally and hill climb events using his very own Sunbeam-Talbot. He was one of the fearsome competitors even from the start. His first event was the DKW sonderklasse that happened at Crimond Scotland on June 16, 1956. And in 1958 he joined the local Border Reivers team able to win 18 races in total racing the Jaguar D-types and Porsches in the national events.

Manny J Clark launched to superstardom begun on Boxing Day 1958 when he came in second to Colin Chapman driving a Lotus Elite. And in 1959 he finished tenth at Le Mans still driving a Lotus Elite. Clark’s performance was able to impress Chapman that he was even willing to give Clark a ride in one of his Formula Junior cars. And in 1960 Clark was able to win the race that took place at the Goodwood. He was actively participating on all the events and races from 1960 until 1968. During this time he was able to participate in about 73 total numbers of races and he was able to win 25 of those.
